Dots extend ChatGPT’s agent model from one-off task execution to ongoing responsibility. According to OpenAI, each dot has its own cloud computer, can continue working between conversations, use connected apps with permission, and create ChatGPT Work or Codex tasks for deeper execution. The initial rollout covers Pro users outside the EEA, Switzerland, and the UK; Business Premium users in supported regions; and Enterprise, Edu, and Healthcare workspaces where admins enable the beta. Rollout is gradual, so eligible users may not see access immediately. For users, the key change is a persistent agent layer that can stay active while delegating execution to Work and Codex.
