From October 30, eligible legacy subscribers paying $200 per month for ChatGPT Pro are scheduled to move to the revised Pro 200 allowance for Codex and ChatGPT Work. OpenAI's official Help Center confirms that the previous allowance is retained only through October 29, after which it decreases while the monthly price stays at $200. OpenAI has not published the exact cutover hour. Codex lead Tibo publicly described the move from 20X to 10X, and some affected subscribers' notices specify the same figures.

The economic change is especially relevant to frequent Codex users. Using Plus as the 1X reference, Pro 100 provides 5X and the revised Pro 200 provides 10X; 25X for Pro 500 is reported in contemporary plan comparisons. As a simple comparison of subscription price per relative allowance unit, the former $200/20X plan represented roughly $10 per 1X, while $200/10X represents $20 per 1X, matching $100/5X and $500/25X. This is a ratio comparison, not a promise of any fixed token count or number of completed tasks per X.

Some publicly shared subscriber notices also describe a reduction in weekly GPT-6 Pro chat messages from 200 to 100; individual eligibility and applicable limits should be checked against the recipient's actual notice and account. OpenAI has also discussed additional credits for existing subscribers. A publicly documented individual notice describes a temporary credit grant with an expiry date, not a permanent preservation of the 20X allowance, and it does not prove all subscribers receive an identical grant.

OpenAI links the adjustment to improvements in model efficiency. More efficient models, however, do not prove that a proportional change in allowance translates into the same amount of real engineering work. After October 30, the relevant measure for heavy Codex users will be how much coding, testing, debugging and delivery they can complete for the same $200, not just the displayed multiplier.
