OpenAI added this text-to-speech deprecation group to its API Deprecations page on October 1, 2026. The four model IDs scheduled for removal are tts-1, tts-1-hd, gpt-4o-mini-tts-2025-03-20, and gpt-4o-mini-tts-2025-12-15, all with API shutdown planned for January 6, 2027. OpenAI recommends gpt-realtime-2.1-mini for each and directs developers to the Realtime API guide for migration. The notice is limited to the lifecycle of these API models; the deprecation page does not separately announce that ChatGPT Voice or other client voice features will retire on the same date.
